Students in the school have a very high profile in film, television, and stage, with a high level of excellence well-recognised across Canada.
All students of The Theatre School have the opportunity to audition for mainstage plays during Fantasy Theatre for Children's regular season, and will perform onstage in a special class presentation at the end of the school year.
School Information & Registration
COURSE DURATION: September 11, 2010 to May 10, 2011.
NO CLASSES: On school holidays, or during performance runs. These classes will be made up.
- All classes take place in the FTC studio, located at 279 Garry St.
- There is a $10.00 registration fee (non-refundable Canadian funds) required with all application forms. This fee is separate from the tuition fee.
- All tuition fees must be paid in full by the first class. Two post-dated cheques made payable to "THE THEATRE SCHOOL" may be used, dated September 11 and December 1, 2010.
- Refunds for withdrawal will not be issued after the second class.

2010-2011 Classes
The Theatre School currently offers five levels of classes: tiered according to the age of the student, and open to those with and without previous training and experience.
- PRIMARY CLASS: Ages 7 to 9 years
- Saturdays, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
FEE: $280.00 (+ $10 registration)
The worlds of make-believe and play-making are covered in this class. Children have the opportunity to express themselves through words, movement, and mime. Poems, nursery rhymes, and familiar stories are used to introduce them to theatre and the art of performing. Reading skills are an asset to this class. - JUNIOR CLASS: Ages 10 to 12 years
- Saturdays, 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
FEE: $280.00 (+ $10 registration)
Acting in a formal environment, students are encouraged to develop theatrical skills with particular interest to voice, movement, and creative expression of ideas. How to audition, how to prepare for a part, and how to create a character are all covered in this performance-orientated class. - INTERMEDIATE CLASS: Ages 13 to 15 years
- Saturdays, 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM
FEE: $295.00 (+ $10 registration)
For the student who has decided to dedicate time to study theatre. Structured to include all formal theatrical skills, with a more mature approach to performance. Students will have the opportunity to explore various theatre styles and techniques. Awareness of Who, What, Where, When and Why – giving them a better attitude about themselves and a respect for the art form they have chosen. The students in this performance-orientated class are chosen for mainstage plays. - YOUNG ADULT CLASS: Ages 16 to 18 years
- Mondays, 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM
FEE: $295.00 (+ $10 registration)
This performance-orientated class gives the student an opportunity to work on scenes while learning or improving their theatre skills. This class is made up of a mixture of novices and experienced, with everyone benefiting from each other and their abilities. - ADULT CLASS: Ages 18+
- Wednesdays, 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM
FEE: $330.00 (+ $10 registration)
Have you ever thought of being on stage, or returning to it? Then this is the class for you! Open to novices as well as the trained/experienced. Over 25 years, hundreds of adult students have enjoyed taking this course, either to supplement their university courses or for recreational purposes. Learn more about the theatre and have fun doing it at the same time. Find out what options are available in the city. Many students have taken this course as a stepping stone to professional stage, television, and film.
The Youth Festival
The Theatre School and G.D. Productions show off their many talents during an evening's entertainment of poems, monologues, scenes, sketches and short plays. This production is mounted at the Forrest Nickerson Theatre at the end of each season, and is open to the public. All students participate!

The Youth Festival is typically mounted at the end of classes in May; its schedule will be announced at a later date.
