Fantasy Theatre for Children was both a children's theatre production company and a theatre school in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Founded in 1981 by Artistic Director Tony Frost, FTC operated as Winnipeg's oldest children's theatre for 30 seasons, until 2011.
Fantasy Theatre for Children
FTC operated 12 months each year, presenting shows that appeal to young and old alike. It remains famous for classic stories and fairy tales such as “Beauty & The Beast”, “Cinderella”, and “Charlotte's Web”.
Fantasy Theatre for Children was one of the few theatres giving local talent a place to develop and apply their skills with practical application in all areas of the theatre.
The Theatre School
TTS is a performance-oriented school for those aged seven to seventy. Many alumni have achieved a high profile in film, television, and stage, with a level of excellence well-recognised across Canada.
G.D. was an adult theatre company within Fantasy Theatre for Children, which aimed to produce material of substantial quality for general & mature audiences.
Past productions include such classics as Shakespeare, Chekhov, Mary Shelley's “Frankenstein” and Abbott & Costello sketch comedy.
Each season, Fantasy Theatre for Children had a cast of volunteers from all walks of life, crossing boundaries of race, creed and colour.
This was the backbone of the organisation both onstage and off, and we are very grateful to these fine people for their dedication and undying support.
